Job purpose To provide high quality patient care while obtaining accurate and thorough test results

Duties and responsibilities

  • Perform electrocardiograms (ECG)
  • Apply and analyze Holter monitors
  • Perform exercise stress tests
  • Recognize urgent test results and report to appropriate physician
  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations
  • Ascertain a verbal history from patients and recognize critical signs/symptoms
  • Gather relevant patient history and vital signs
  • Provide exceptional patient care
  • Work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Perform all job duties in a timely manner

Qualifications

  • Completed cardiology technology course or equivalent from an accredited school
  • Registration with the Alberta Society of Registered Cardiology Technologists
  • Registration with the Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP)
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality in accordance to the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP)

Working conditions This position requires you to work in a fast paced and occasionally stressful work environment where multi-tasking and prioritization of duties is imperative. You must be able to take feedback from physicians and co-workers. You must be comfortable making critical decisions independently when required, especially in recognizing when outpatient symptoms and/or findings need to be brought to the attention of the attending physician.

Physical requirements The ability to stand, walk and bend to reach patients for extended periods of time.
